A film to enjoy, laugh and reflect
"Federico Solar" (Tony Leblanc), has lost his job as a professor of Latin and his girlfriend "Enriqueta" (Mary Begoña), has left by a dental. So decides suicide. After a series of attempts, crowned by the failure, including that of thrown from Roman aqueduct of Segovia, decides take advantage of its decision and get back in a society that has been hostile.
Its director Rafael Gil, who made several documentaries for the Republican Government during the Spanish Civil War, made the first version of this film in 1942, in the years more hard in the post war. Together with Wenceslao Fernandez Flórez developed this bold comedy and drama.
Almost 30 years later, in 1970, director Rafael Gil, made a "remake" of the same film with Tony Leblanc. Tony gets one of his best interpretations, knows perfectly well interpret the two roles of the same character and especially the picaresque that, before the profiteers who seek money to their situation, he used to their benefit. It is a critical and a satire of the society and the world in general.
The film shows us the best cast of players of the moment: Antonio Garisa, Elisa Ramirez, Rafael Alonso, Emma Cohen, Aurora Redondo, Goyo Lebrero, Jose Sacristán, Julia Caba Alba, Mary Begoña, Manuel Arbó, Alfonso del Real and its scenarios show us many corners and famous places of the city of Segovia, where passes the script, by an excellent photography of master Jose F. Aguayo.
